We Swatched Every 2aN Jelly Glow Highlighter Shade: Which One Is Yours?
When the 2aN Jelly Glow Highlighter landed at the office, the first thing everyone asked was which shade to get. Five pastel pans, all very pretty in the compact, all looking kind of the same in photos. So we did the only sensible thing and swatched every single one on the back of a hand for a reel.
Here's what each shade actually looks like on skin, in the order we filmed them.
Five pans, one very happy teammate
The 2aN Jelly Glow Highlighter has a soft jelly texture that you tap on with a fingertip. 2aN calls the effect a bouncy color beam: a sparkle with a little pop of color in it, instead of plain white shimmer.
It sits on skin without fallout or caking, and because it's layerable you can sheer it out or build it up. That's why the colored shades are less scary than they look.
All five, lined up
This is the photo that made us want to film the reel in the first place. Five little clear compacts, five pastel jellies, all sitting together. Seeing them side by side is the easiest way to tell the shades apart before you swatch anything.
The texture is a soft jelly that grips the skin without fallout or caking, so it stays put better than most loose sparkle.
The boxes are almost too cute to open
Silver boxes with a pastel label for each shade, stacked like a little tower on the desk. The five are 01 Moondust, 02 Cosmic Pink, 03 Aurora Purple, 04 Hyper Blue and 05 Lemon Hall (the box spells it Lemon Hole, which made us laugh).
All five shades of the Jelly Glow Highlighter are on Baerry.
01 Moondust, the safe bet
Moondust is a pinky champagne with fine sparkle. On the hand it just looks like healthy, glowing skin, which makes it the one we'd send to anyone who wants a highlighter for every day.
If you can only pick one 2aN Jelly Glow shade, start here.
02 Cosmic Pink for a flushed glow
The pan is a bright candy pink, but the swatch is much softer, more of a pink shimmer than actual color. Tapped on top of blush, Cosmic Pink makes the cheeks look a bit fresher, like you just came in from the cold.
Cosmic Pink, out of the pan
Here's Cosmic Pink in the brand's own product shot. The pan looks like candy, but like the swatch above showed, on skin it's a soft pink shimmer that sits on top of blush rather than a separate stripe.
Fingertip, a tiny amount, tap on the high point of the cheek. That's really all it needs.
03 Aurora Purple is the surprise
This was the one that got the most reactions while filming. Aurora Purple has a violet sparkle that shifts as you move your hand, and it looks especially nice on the lids or the inner corner of the eye.
On the cheekbones, keep it thin. A light tap gives an icy, almost holographic sheen.
Aurora Purple, up close
The brand's product shot for Aurora Purple shows why we kept calling it the surprise of the set. In the pan it's properly violet, but the shimmer itself reads as more of a cool, pearly light.
If you're not sure about purple on your cheeks, start on the lids, where a little color is easier to wear.
04 Hyper Blue, very icy
Hyper Blue is the coolest shade of the five. On skin it turns into a frosty, pearly shine with a slight blue tint rather than an obvious blue.
It's lovely on fair, cool-toned skin, and on any skin tone it works as a tiny dot on the brow bone or the center of the lid.
Hyper Blue, less scary than it looks
Hyper Blue is the one people are most nervous about. The pan looks very blue, but the swatch above is a good reminder that it doesn't look blue on skin. It's more of an icy shine.
Layer it lightly over another shade if you want the frost without committing to it on its own.
05 Lemon Hall, the sunny one
The pan is pale yellow and the swatch is a soft golden glow. Lemon Hall is the warmest option, so it's a nice pick for warm, olive and deeper skin tones that find pink highlighters a bit chalky.
So, which shade is yours?
Our quick guide: Moondust for everyday, Cosmic Pink if you love blush, Aurora Purple or Hyper Blue if you want people to ask what you're wearing, and Lemon Hall for warmer skin. The silver compacts all look the same closed, so if you end up with more than one of the 2aN highlighters, keep the boxes.
Tell us which one you'd pick. If you want to compare it with other glow products, our highlighter and shading collection has the rest.
FAQ
01 Moondust is the easiest everyday shade. It swatches as a soft champagne pink that reads like a regular glow on most skin tones.
Pick up a small amount with your fingertip and tap it onto the high points of your face. For smaller spots like the inner corner of the eye, use a precision brush.
Yes, it's a layerable color highlighter. Try a thin tap of Aurora Purple or Hyper Blue over Moondust to add a hint of color without going full pastel.
The soft jelly texture is made to stick to skin without fallout or caking, so it stays put over foundation as well as on bare skin.
